Executive functions are a set of cognitive skills that enable organization, planning, and attention in school, accounting for variation in performance. This full-day workshop will provide an interactive, self-reflective, and highly practical introduction to an executive function supportive teaching approach. Teachers will be inspired to integrate an understanding of executive functions into their daily instruction, feedback, and assessment practice.
  • Be equipped to share key research on executive functions with your school teams and colleagues.
  • Recognize, deeply understand, and describe the impact of executive functions on performance, teachers’ work, and classroom climate.
  • Confidently apply a specific practice for supporting student self-regulated learning that is feasible, equitable, and responsive.
  • Understand and explain the ways that socially shared learning regulation can produce a more universally supportive mainstream classroom environment for the benefit of all learners, but particularly those with special learning needs.
