Placement (PDP) Services
Beacon East broker and organise a wide range of exciting professional development opportunities for teachers, lecturers, advisers and other education professionals. This professional development largely focuses on PDP (Professional Development Placement) services. PDPs essentially give the delegate the opportunity to spend time with local business/industry. PDP events take place with a wide range of companies/organisations in Essex, Thurrock & Southend and across the east region. This form of CPD is designed to support the delegate's work e.g. curriculum support, management skills, careers advice, WRL, enterprise and so on. PDP is a vital EBL (Education Business Link) activity and is seen by many schools and colleges as an invaluable way of improving employer engagement for their institution. PDP has been a particularly valuable tool in supporting the 14 - 19 developments and the need to link more effectively with local business/industry e.g. the 14 - 19 Diplomas.
In addition to managing and delivering PDP in a number of counties across the region; Beacon East holds the IEBE (Institute for Education Business Excellence) east region PDP coordinator role and organises some PDP events for all eastern counties. In partnership with IEBE, Beacon East also coordinates the Royal Academy of Engineering PDP programme for the east region. Many of these PDP events are also open to Essex, Thurrock & Southend schools and colleges.
